GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The annual Come Home to Galion (CHTG) celebration, a family-friendly event that brings the Galion community together at the start of the holiday season, is set to take place on Saturday, Dec. 2nd in Uptowne Galion.

The day will be filled with a variety of activities, including a Santa parade, the lighting of the community tree at dusk in the Uptowne Square, and the opening of Santa’s House, which will be placed for the season in the Square, next to the gazebo.

The festivities will begin with ‘Breakfast with Santa’ at the Big Four Depot, 127 N. Washington St. There will be three seatings: 8:30, 9:45, & 11:00. Tickets are $6 and are available at the Galion-Crestline Area Chamber of Commerce office, 138 Harding Way W.

Throughout the day, attendees can participate in a ‘Find the Elf’ scavenger hunt, with elves hidden around the windows of Uptowne Galion businesses. The Crawford County Art Center will also hold a greeting card workshop at the Galion Community Theatre.

Other planned activities for the day include:

  • A Holiday Open House at the Galion Public Library, 123 N. Market St., from 10am-4pm, featuring carriage rides outside and a Jazz Band performing inside.
  • Cookie decorating at Cake & Icing, 114 Harding Way W., from 12-3pm.
  • A Reindeer Dash on N. Market St. at 12pm.
  • Live entertainment on stage in the Square from 1-4pm, including performances by members of the Galion Community Theatre, Eagle Dance Center, and community musicians.
  • Food trucks KC Delights and Kettle Krunch selling goodies in the Square.
  • An Open House at the Galion History Center’s Brownella Cottage, located at the NW corner of Union & Walnut St, from 1-4pm.
  • A ‘Princess’ meet-and-greet with ‘Anna & Elsa’ sing-along at Carrie’s Venue, 129 Harding Way E., from 1-3:30pm.
  • Free hot cocoa (while supplies last) in front of Galion Family Health, 126 Harding Way E., from 1:30-3pm.
  • A CHTG parade at 4pm, featuring the winners of the Galion Health Dept. coloring contest, as well as ‘Anna & Elsa’.
  • A Tree Lighting Ceremony at 4:45pm, hosted by Galion Grace Point.
  • The opening of Santa House in the Square following the Tree Lighting.
  • A screening of ‘Polar Express’ at the Galion Community Theatre, 127 Harding Way W., with doors opening at 6pm and the movie beginning at 7pm.
