The Galion Community Foundation (GCF) held a special, invitation-only ceremony to award twenty-three scholarships to Galion High School seniors May 10. The total amount of scholarships presented during the evening totaled $36,750.
Graduating Galion seniors who received scholarships included: Sophia Carson (The Phillip Bunyard Scholarship and GCF General Scholarship); Courtney Taylor (The William & M.J. Bradfield Scholarship and The Juanita Wagner Memorial Scholarship); Callie Wildenthaler (Kevin Cass Scholarship); Lauren Huggins (The Class of 1950 Scholarship); Lucas Connor (The Galion Jaycees Senators Scholarship); Tristan Gosser (Miller Carter Memorial Scholarship); Madison Lawson (The A.M. Carter Scholarship for Pioneer Career and Technology Center); Farrah Gregg (The Edna Price Beck Scholarship); Gabe Makeever (The Edna Price Beck Scholarship and The Homer Fox Family Scholarship); Brooklyn Potter (The Homer Fox Family Scholarship); Danielle Schieber (George & Eunice Ronk Veterinary Medicine Scholarship); Devin Baughn (The Capt. William F. Unckrich Educational Scholarship); Shae Ness (The Ethel Volk Koeckert Scholarship); Greer Gledhill (The Juanita Wagner Memorial Scholarship); Kailey Keener (The Juanita Wagner Memorial Scholarship); Connor Moreton (The Juanita Wagner Memorial Scholarship); Lauren B. Rudolph (The Juanita Wagner Memorial Scholarship); Rachel Jarvis (Chad Thomas Grix Scholarship). The GCF also awarded two additional scholarships to area students. The Bils-Frombaugh Scholarship was awarded to Luke Scott, a graduating senior from Wynford High School and Wynford FFA member, and The Homer Fox Family Scholarship was awarded to Laura Artrip, a member of the Northmor Local Schools Class of 2017.
“Every year we receive outstanding scholarship applications from the graduating seniors, and this year was no exception,” said GCF board member Dr. Sandra Powell. “We are pleased to present these awards annually, and look forward to the great things these students will achieve.”
The Galion Community Foundation (GCF) is a permanent, charitable foundation established to improve the quality of life for the area citizens. The foundation is designed to assist youth and recreational activities, education, health and human services, the arts, cultural and civic programs, environmental improvement projects, and other valuable area activities and services.
“I want to thank the Galion Community Foundation for providing these scholarships for our graduating seniors,” said Galion Superintendent Jim Grubbs. “Each year, our graduating classes receive an exceptional amount of scholarship dollars, and it all starts with the support of local organizations, like the GCF, and countless others.”
