GALION — After receiving word of Superintendent Jim Grubbs’ intent to once again retire, the Galion City Schools Board of Education is searching for the district’s next leader.

Per a public records request, there were eight applicants for the position.

The applicants were (along with current positions):

  • Jennifer Allerding – Director of Instruction – Galion City Schools
  • Jack Cunningham – Principal – East Liverpool City Schools (North Elementary)
  • Martha Hasselbusch – Principal – Cincinnati Public Schools (Midway School)
  • John Massara – Education Program Specialist – Ohio Dept. of Education
  • Gary Miller Jr. – Principal – Northeastern Local Schools (Northridge Middle School)
  • Tim Myers – Superintendent – Van Buren Local Schools
  • Tamara Wallace – Principal – Mohawk Local Schools (Mohawk Elementary)
  • Tamara Webb – Director of Student Services – Ashland City Schools

Of the eight applicants, three were selected to receive interviews with the district.

Those selected for interviews were:

  • Jennifer Allerding
  • Tamara Wallace
  • Tamara Webb

The timeline for the hiring process currently is not known.

In a statement regarding his retirement, Grubbs said when he was approved as a retire-rehire employee, he said he would stay on for a year and a half. That date falls on July 31.

Grubbs originally was hired by GCS in September 2015.
