GALION, OH—Galion City Councilwoman Carrie Zeger has officially resigned from her position on the Galion City Council, representing the 4th Ward. Zeger’s resignation is effective immediately.

Despite attempts to reach out to Zeger for a comment, Crawford County Now received no response. However, Zeger did post a statement on her Facebook page regarding her decision to resign.

In her post, Zeger expressed frustration with the challenges of serving on the City Council, including feeling judged by both residents who don’t even know her. She also mentioned her dissatisfaction with Mayor Tom O’Leary’s behavior, specifically citing a lack of respect for others, particularly women.

Zeger’s post also highlighted the demanding nature of the role, noting the stress of trying to do the right thing while facing constant criticism. She pointed out that the position pays only $350 a month, raising the question of whether the job is worth the hassle.

The city of Galion is now accepting resumes from individuals interested in filling the vacant position in the 4th Ward. This area encompasses the region south of Harding Way West and west of South Market Street to the city limits on the south side of Bucyrus Road.

Zeger’s resignation has left a void in the City Council that will need to be filled promptly to ensure representation for the residents of the 4th Ward. Interested individuals are encouraged to submit their resumes to the city for consideration.
