If the agenda is any indication, Galion City Council could be in for a long evening Tuesday when it next meets. Council members are slated to vote on 11 pieces of legislation including the hotly debated issue of adding the position of public information officer.

The ordinance providing for that position is coming up for a third vote. Although it has passed the first two times it came before council, the position has both detractors and supporters among City Council members. Galion has not previously had a public information officer.

Also up for a third reading and vote is an ordinance amending 2015 appropriations. All other nine items on the legislative agenda are up for a first reading. Among those are two regarding a CSX encroachment agreement and an amendment to the city’s income tax code made necessary by the Ohio General Assembly.
