Galion’s City Council will meet in special session tonight at a meeting called by Mayor Tom O’Leary. The agenda calls for City Council to deal with ordinances pertaining to the Fire Department and purchase of a new ladder truck.

The purchase of the truck was put on hold last week when City Treasurer Paula Durbin refused to sign the $695,000 check claiming she had yet to see an ordinance approving the purchase of the truck and a certificate from Auditor Brian Treisch stating appropriate funds for the purchase were available.

While the truck sat last weekend, it was unavailable for a fire at Covert Manufacturing.

The list of ordinances coming before council tonight includes an authorization to purchase the truck and a separate ordinance directing the city treasurer to sign the check. City Council will then go into executive session to discuss imminent court action.
