Press release
The Galion City School District Board of Education approved a lengthy list of items as the district prepares for the start of the new school year during its regular monthly meeting July 21. The first day of school for Galion students is August 24.
The board approved the Superintendent’s recommendation on all personnel items, including extra-duty assignments for extra-curricular activities and resident educator mentors. The board also approved school fees for the 2016-2017 school year.
Later in the meeting, the board accepted a total of $16,000 in donations from the Galion Boosters Club and the Galion Alumni Association. The donations helped offset costs for athletic field maintenance, athletic uniforms and student-athlete recognition.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from the Boosters Club and the Alumni Association,” Superintendent Jim Grubbs said. “They’re consistent involvement in the district exemplifies their dedication to current and future Tigers.”
The board also passed a resolution allowing for the use of blizzard bags should the need arise due to inclement weather during the 2016-2017 school year.
The board recessed to executive session with no additional action being taken. The next regular meeting of the board of education will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Galion Middle School Computer Lab Thursday, August 25.
