A few fresh faces will be coming to the Galion City School District for the 2016-2017 school year after the district’s Board of Education approved filling vacant positions Thursday evening.

Filling in the void of Galion Middle School principal will be Joe Morabito. Morabito comes to Galion from the Mapleton School District.

“I feel confident that this is a great hire,” Galion Superintendent Jim Grubbs said. “We are excited to have him. We interviewed several great candidates and Morabito was the front runner.”

Also approved was the hiring of Adam Brown as Galion Intermediate School Student Support Services Specialist, Alison Roth as Galion Middle School Intervention Specialist, and Andrea Murphy as Galion Intermediate School Intervention Specialist.

Board members approved the payment of $4,625 for an irrigation and sprinkler system at Unkrich Stadium in Heise Park. The total cost for the irrigation system will be $18,500, which the school district will have to pay 25 percent.

Breakfast prices are going to go up at the Galion City School district. Student breakfast will now cost $1.25 for fully loaded breakfast for full-pay students, and $1.50 for adults.

The school board approved changing the date of its August meeting from Aug. 18 to Aug. 25.
