GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Galion AMVETS Post 1979 will host its annual Memorial Day Parade and Commemoration Ceremony on Monday, May 26, in downtown Galion. The event honors the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.

Parade lineup will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the American Legion Post 243, located at 118 South Market St. The parade is scheduled to step off at 10:00 a.m., featuring local veterans’ organizations, school bands, civic groups, and patriotic displays.

A commemorative ceremony will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Retired U.S. Army veteran George P. Mason will serve as the keynote speaker, offering remarks on the sacrifices of fallen service members and the meaning of Memorial Day.

Following the ceremony, a luncheon will be held at AMVETS Post 1979 in Galion.

The event is organized by a planning committee chaired by Angie Hoffman, with Jim Brocklesby as co-chair. The AMVETS also extended a special thank you to Dan Brady for his dedication to the event’s success.
