Saw-whet Owls: A Nighttime Encounter with Ohio’s Smallest Owl

Prepare to encounter the elusive and nocturnal Saw-whet owls on Friday, November 3rd, at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 State Route 598. Ohio’s smallest owl will be the star of the evening as bird bander Bob Placier returns with his mist nets to gather data on these diminutive raptors.

Starting at 6:30 pm, the night will kick off with a PowerPoint presentation that provides insights into these intriguing creatures. Following the presentation, attendees will have the chance to check the mist nets in the hopes of capturing a few of these nocturnal flyers.

In between net checks, a campfire will set the mood for a memorable fall evening, making this event perfect for the whole family. Don’t forget to dress appropriately for the weather and bring a flashlight.
