MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW) — The community is invited to a free musical tribute honoring local veterans and their families on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, at the Renaissance Theatre.
The event, titled “Veterans’ Salute,” will feature the AFM Local 159 Concert Band in collaboration with the Mansfield Symphony Chorus at 2:30 p.m.
The AFM Local 159’s 80-member concert band will join the vocal strength of the Mansfield Symphony Chorus for a program of patriotic, ceremonial, and reflective works. AFM Local 159 President Michael Grady will conduct the performance, which is expected to include marches, anthems, and collaborative ensemble pieces designed to evoke pride, remembrance, and unity.
“This concert is our heartfelt opportunity to recognize the service and sacrifice of our armed forces and their families,” said Chelsie Thompson, President & CEO of the Renaissance Performing Arts Association. “We’re proud to work alongside our musicians’ union and symphony chorus to provide this moving tribute.”
The Mansfield Symphony Chorus, under the direction of Chorusmaster Jacob Poiner, has performed alongside the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra for nearly 50 years. The American Federation of Musicians Local 159 has served the area since 1901.
Tickets for the free concert are available now through the Renaissance Box Office, by phone at 419-522-2726, or online at rentickets.org.
Funding for the event is provided through a grant from the Music Performance Trust Fund and the American Federation of Musicians, with a generous contribution from the Russell and Mary Gimbel Foundation.
