Press release

Four students from the Bucyrus City Schools will represent the district during the Tri-County Spelling Bee at 6:30 p.m. at the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center (MOESC) Thursday, Feb. 11.

Malia Posey (4th grade), Allison Fraser (5th grade), Gunner Hofer (8th grade) finished in the Top 12 of the Crawford County Spelling Bee, while Alex Wion (7th grade) finished as Runner Up in the county wide competition at Galion Middle School in January.

“All of our students worked hard to prepare themselves for the Crawford County Spelling Bee,” Gifted Coordinator Carrie Wood said. “The district’s four representatives have been preparing with their teachers and parents since mid-January to help hone their spelling skills for the regional competition at MOESC Feb. 11.”

In addition to finishing in the Top 12 of the county spelling bee, 4th grade student Malia Posey will represent Bucyrus in the Scripps Online Spelling Bee in hopes of qualifying for the Ohio Regional Bee.
