BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Terminated former Galion Police Chief Marc Rodriguez’s lawsuit against the city of Galion will move forward. In a decision issued on January 16, 2024, the Third District Appeals Court reversed the case’s dismissal by the Crawford County Common Please Court.
Marc Rodriguez, the plaintiff-appellant, appealed the judgment of the Crawford County Common Pleas Court dated August 7, 2023.
The judgment granted the motion to dismiss filed by the defendant-appellee, City of Galion.
Rodriguez argued that the common pleas court made an error by ruling that it did not have jurisdiction over his administrative appeal because he did not complete the appeal process with the Galion Civil Service Commission.
The higher court disagreed with the trial court’s decision and reversed the judgment.
Crawford County Now reached out to Galion Mayor O’Leary and Galion Communications Director Matt Echelberry for comment but has yet to receive a response.
