A former Crestline man now living in Florida pleaded guilty to felony non-support charges Monday in Crawford County Common Pleas Court. Michael Osborne was ordered to pay back nearly $155,000 in back child support dating back to January of 2008.
Assistant prosecutor Ryan Hoovler told Judge Russell Wiseman his latest report indicated the amount was $154,949.30, but that report may not be up-to-date and the actual amount owed by Osborne could be more.
After Osborne’s admission that he had not paid court-order child-support for over five years he was placed on three years of community control and fined $750 and costs in the case. Osborne also received credit for 15 days served in the county jail.
The charge against Osborne is classified as a felony 5 but because he has no pervious felony convictions state sentencing guidelines mandate he must be placed on community control. However, if he fails to successfully complete community control Osborne is subject to a 12-month prison sentence as stipulated in the court entry by Wiseman.
Wiseman made it clear to Osborne and his probation officer he expects some serious payments paid on that back support as soon as possible.
“That’s my main interest,” Wiseman said.
It would seem as though Starleena Hunter is running out of chances after her appearance Monday morning in Common Pleas Court.
The 26-year-old Galion woman was removed from the intervention in lieu of conviction program and formally convicted of felony drug possession. Hunter, who had admitted to violating conditions of that program, was placed on community control for three years, given a $1,250 drug fine and had her driver’s license suspended for six months with work privileges.
Hunter must also go through the CBCF program at CROSSWAEH or a similar program.
In other court news from Monday morning both Crystal Hill and Jessica Meadows had initial hearings on charges they violated the terms of their community control. Hill’s bond was set at $25,000 and Meadows’ at $50,000. Both cases were continued and both defendants had legal counsel assigned.
