CRESTLINE―Former Crestline Village Fiscal Officer Christi Knauber came to the Village Council meeting Monday evening to publicly request a meeting.
Knauber said she wants to have a meeting with finance committee chair Gene Toy, Mayor Joy Miley, Village Administrator John Rostash and others in regards to rumors that have been circulated about her that she refers to as slanderous.
Miley responded that the meeting will be scheduled. Knauber was hired as the fiscal officer in March of 2016 and resigned from the position a few months ago.
Fire Chief Steve Krock said that there have recently been complaints received about issues with the tornado siren.
“We do a test siren on the first Wednesday of each month at noon. A three-minute siren is a tornado warning and a one-minute siren is for testing,” said Krock.
Rostash said that he recently attended a meeting regarding the 2020 Census.
Crestline was the most under-reported community in Crawford County during the last census in 2010. Our share of $675 billion in federal spending is at stake,” Rostash said.
He said a committee will be formed to ensure that the word gets out to all residents in the village of the importance of being counted in the census.
Rostash said the Crestline Pool is open, along with the concession stand, and everything is running smoothly.
“We are also aggressively enforcing our property maintenance code. Currently, we have 56 active cases with more to be created from reports receiving last week,” Rostash said.
He said 27 cases have been closed so far this year.
Rostash also addressed recent complaints of flooded basements in the village.
“Our team is verifying our sewers are operational and that there are no restrictions. We will be passing along with information we gather to our engineers,” Rostash said.
Police Chief Jeff Shook is reminding residents that setting off fireworks within the village is illegal. He said that the person setting off the fireworks, as well as the property owner, will be issued citations.
The next council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on July 15 at the Crestline Village Hall.
