Long-time Bucyrus High School coach and teacher Gerald Straley died on Monday at the Blanchard Valley Hospital.

Straley’s coaching and teaching career encompassed 35 years and the last 22 were at Bucyrus where he coached the sports of football, basketball and track. During World War II, Straley was a fighter pilot in the United States Army Air Corps.

Straley was inducted into the Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame in 2011 and just this year provided a sizable monetary gift to the Hall of Fame for the purpose of building a permanent structure.

Straley is survived by daughters Teresa Lambert of Findlay and Teri Shoemaker of Delaware.
