A former superintendent for the Bucyrus City School District died this week. John Roller died on Monday at his home in Marion.
Roller was superintendent for the Bucyrus City School District in the 1990s. It was his final post prior to his retirement from a career in education.
Roller began that career as a teacher in the Croton school district and went from there to Bloom-Carroll where he taught and coached. In 2000 Roller was inducted into the Mid-State League Hall of Fame and in 2012 into the Bloom-Carroll Hall of Fame.
Roller was also a principal and superintendent at North Union before coming to Bucyrus.
Roller is survived by his wife Paula and their three children.
Calling hours are from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at the Epworth United Methodist church in Marion with services to follow at 4.
