BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A former City of Bucyrus employee has been arraigned on multiple felony charges following his March indictment.
Anthony VanHouten, 53, was formally charged with 20 counts of second-degree felonies after being indicted by a Crawford County Grand Jury. VanHouten was arrested on January 29th and has been held pending the completion of the investigation.
According to the indictment, Mr. VanHouten faces allegations involving the production, reproduction, or distribution of illicit material depicting a minor in a prohibited manner.
The charges stem from allegations involving sexually explicit material involving a minor. Second-degree felonies involving a minor in Ohio carry the potential for significant prison time if convicted.
Van Houten appeared in the Crawford County Common Pleas Court where he was arraigned. Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold placed Van Houten on a one-million-dollar bond. He is represented by court appointed attorney Brad Starkey.
Bucyrus Mayor Bruce Truka placed VanHouten on unpaid administrative leave upon his arrest.
