Columbus – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today issued concealed carry license statistics for the first quarter of 2014, which reveal that more than 32,000 concealed carry licenses were issued in Ohio between January 1, 2014 and March 31, 2014.
The following numbers were reported to the Attorney General’s Office from county sheriffs in Ohio for the first quarter of 2014:
- Number of new licenses issued: 16,205
- Number of licenses renewed: 15,832
- Total licenses issued: 32,037
In Crawford County, the number of licenses issued followed the state trend of outnumbering those licenses that had been renewed. Seventy-four concealed carry licenses were issued during that three-month period while 47 licenses had been renewed. Only two concealed carry licenses were suspended. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office reported that no licenses were revoked or denied during that time and zero license processes were suspended. Temporary emergency licenses were also not issued during that time.
The Attorney General’s Office compiles an annual report required by law about the number of licenses issued each year. Each sheriff must report concealed handgun license statistics quarterly to the Ohio Peace Office Training Commission within the Oho Attorney General’s Office. Those quarterly statistics are published on the Ohio Attorney General’s website once compiled and verified.
The full 2014 first quarter report and previous reports are available on the Ohio Attorney General’s website.
