Bringing out sellers and shoppers alike of horse care and riding apparel, the first annual Tack Swap and Auction took place Saturday.

Held at the Crawford County Fairgrounds’ Youth Building, the tack swap and auction drew 30 tables of sellers and numerous shoppers to the event. President of the Crawford County Horse Council Trish Tackett explained what the proceeds of the event would go towards.

“It goes towards the Crawford County 4-H Horse Program. So it helps with fair trophies, putting on fair, everything for the kids for showing their horses,” Tackett said.

Selling items that were no longer in use by her or her family, Sherri Clevenger brought a few items to sell so that those items could find new life somewhere else.

“We had some items we were no longer using so we thought it was a good opportunity to share them with somebody who could put it to good use,” Clevenger explained.

Looking for items to use around their barns, shoppers were also out to look for great bargains and deals. Justin Retherford shared a few items in which he got good deals.

“We found a brass collar for a dollar. We found some English reigns for $10 and we are about to have this auction so who knows we might find something else,” Retherford said.

The swap portion of the event took place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. At 2 p.m. the tack auction took place with Tom Moore Sales of Michigan serving as tack auctioneer.

The next tack swap and auction will take place on Jan 28, 2017, in the Youth Building of the Crawford County Fairgrounds.
