Bucyrus, Ohio– The final First Friday of 2017 for downtown Bucyrus will be held Friday, August 4 and is set to honor hometown heroes. The evening will pay tribute to the sheriff’s office, police department, fire department, and emergency medical technicians.

Many local heroes will be present at the event. The Sheriff’s Department will be located in FC Bank parking lot. The police will be on the square, and firefighters will be located on Warren Street. Several EMT’s will be situated there in Family Video’s parking lot.

To kick off the night, the official ribbon cutting for Art Park will be at 4:30 p.m. After the ribbon cutting, several artists will be located in the Art Park for the night.

Another big event taking place during the night is the Touch-a-Truck event. For this event, the East and West sides of Washington Square will have different types of vehicles like tractors, concrete trucks, and Sheriff’s Department new SRT vehicle there.

According to Sue Logsdon, owner of U Be Dazzled Boutique and chairperson of First Friday, the Touch a Truck event is aimed to help parents get kids more familiar with different types of vehicles.

Some of the vehicles Logsdon mentioned will be present at the event were a Sprint car, a Hord’s tractor, Hensley’s Towing truck, and a WWII Jeep. Along with the vehicles, coloring pages and stickers will be present near the area for children as well.

Also adding to the festivities for the evening will be a mime from the company Joy Unspeakable. The mime will be roaming the downtown to bring laughs and entertainment. The Kids Area will be located on West Rensselaer St. while the food will be located on East Rensselaer St. Balloon artist Trina Dicks will be on hand to create balloon sculptures for the children.

For musical entertainment, Al Fraizer will be playing in front of Home Care Matters, Chad and Lori Brown will be playing at the mural, and Greg Bell will be in the Art Park.

First Friday will be taking place from 5-8 p.m. in downtown Bucyrus and will occur in the rain or shine. Logsdon and all of those involved with First Friday would like to encourage everyone to come out for the last First Friday of 2017.

“Come out and support the businesses, support all of the vendors, and just come out with your families and have a great time!” Logsdon encourages.
