Many Crawford County and other area residents will receive an emergency alert on their cell phones Wednesday afternoon.

The alert is a test being performed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

According to FEMA, “On Oct 3rd 2:18 pm FEMA will TEST the Wireless Emergency Alert system. Most cell phones will receive an alert. This is only a test-no action is needed.”

The test originally was to take place Sept. 20 but was delayed due to Hurricane Florence hitting the eastern coast of the United States.
