BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Plans are already taking “root” for another agritourism event in Crawford County this spring – the Farm Hop.
The Farm Hop is set for Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seven local farms are participating in the self-guided tour designed to showcase the county’s rich agricultural heritage and foster connections between farmers and the community.
“The goal is just to get people exposed to agriculture in the community and have them interact with local food producers here in Crawford County,” said Scott McKnight, who is organizing the event for the fourth time with his wife, Lydia McKnight.
The McKnights’ lavender farm in Bucyrus, Abundantly Blessed Farm, is again one of the stops on the tour. Other participants so far include Rus-Men Farms in Galion, Paynter Family Organic Farm in Crestline, and The Pickwick Place in Bucyrus.
Westside Feed in Bucyrus and The Ohio Flower Girls, a farm and U-pick flower field also in Bucyrus, will be back this year. Making its Farm Hop debut, McKnight said, will be Brandywine Creek Farm, an exotic animal farm in Bucyrus.
McKnight said owner Samantha Tanner will exhibit some of her animals, including Emus, in an interactive setting along with table demonstrations. Massive Emu eggs will also be on display for children and adults alike, he said.
Those attending the hop can start or stop at any homestead on the tour as well as pick up fresh produce and sample farm fare along the route. McKnight said the first 100 visitors will receive gift bags courtesy of local sponsors and businesses.
The event will be held rain or shine. Free welcome guides, digital maps, and additional information are available online at abundantlyblessedfarm.com/farmhop2026/
“We are really hoping for nice weather,” McKnight said. “We’re excited for people to come out, explore, and interact with local agriculture right here in their own backyards.”
