Farm-to-table cooking demonstrations, safety training, information about oil and gas leasing and Columbus Zoo animals are all part of Farm Bureau Fest being held Jan. 24 in Marion. Members of the Chris Schiefer Nationwide Insurance and Financial Services Agency in Galion will be talking about farm transition and estate planning.
The personal development and member benefit expo will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tri-Rivers Career Center in Marion. Farm Bureaus in Crawford, Delaware, Marion, Morrow, Richland and Wyandot counties are sponsoring the free event, which is open to the public.
The expo features two training opportunities: a Nationwide Insurance “Land as Your Legacy” seminar on generational transition planning for farm operations and four safety training sessions. Attending two of the safety sessions qualifies for receiving the Workers’ Compensation Group Rating certification for the year.
Ohio Farm Bureau experts will be talking about issues that are of concern statewide such as water quality, Current Agricultural Use Value (CAUV), pipeline construction, oil and gas leasing and the farm bill. The event will feature supervised children’s activities, including an animal presentation from the Columbus Zoo. A light breakfast and a soup and salad lunch will be served.
Also at the expo will be displays showcasing county Farm Bureau community activities as well as booths from Farm Bureau partners such as Case IH, GM, Grainger, Nationwide Agribusiness and Sherwin-Williams.
The deadline to register is Jan. 21. Register online at http://ofbf.org/counties/marion/blog/9129/ or call Marion County Farm Bureau at 740-383-2158.
