BUCYRUS — A family that is becoming healthy together has started its own business to help others achieve their fitness goals.

Dorthy Williams, along with her daughter, Alisha Zier-Leuthold and brother and sister-in-law, John and Dottie Funk, have opened Lightning Nutrition at 119 W. Warren St., in Bucyrus.

“We wanted a location where people could come in and enjoy an upbeat atmosphere,” Williams said.

Williams has been using Herbalife products for more than four years along with her family members and co-owners of the business.

“I know how great the products have made me feel and how much healthier my lifestyle is now, and I wanted to share that with others,” said Williams, who is down six pants sizes in her weight loss and fitness journey.

Williams said Herbalife offers the number one meal replacement shakes in the country and is available in a total of 90 countries throughout the world.

Dottie said she has lost 84 pounds since she began using the products while her husband is down 56 pounds so far.

“People can come in for a hot shake, a cool smoothie or an exercise class,” Williams said.

Zier-Leuthold said she wanted to be part of the business because she wants to help people achieve their health and fitness goals.

“I enjoy working with people and seeing them succeed,” Zier-Leuthold said. “Lightning Nutrition is a fun place for people to come and work out or relax in a healthy environment for less money than they would pay for fast food. We offer a healthier option.”

Shakes and smoothies come in a variety of flavors, such as peach-mango, mint-latte and cookies and cream.

“We offer fitness classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings,” Williams said. “We have Fit Camp on Tuesdays in which we workout with body weights, HOP Parties on Wednesdays and Cardio-Drumming on Thursdays.”

Amanda Glick and her husband, Thomas, came from Attica to attend the cardio drumming class on Thursday.

“The class is really good, you can definitely feel the burn,” Glick said. “This is a great place to come to for healthier options and it is close to home.”

The fitness classes are from 6:15-7:15 p.m. while the shop is open for regular business from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

“We offer support, coaching and a fun, healthy atmosphere for people,” Williams said. “We love to celebrate people’s goals and help them become successful.”

A grand opening and ribbon cutting by the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce is Wednesday, Jan. 30 at noon at the shop.
