The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 10:09 a.m. Wednesday in reference a possible trailer fire on Washington Street in Chatfield.

Chatfield Township Fire was paged to the scene and requested mutual aid assistance from the Lykens, New Washington, and Holmes township fire departments. Life Support also called to the scene, along with a deputy from the Sheriff’s Office. Ohio State Highway Patrol also called for assistance on scene with traffic and scene control.

Chatfield Township confirmed the trailer fire at 3575 Washington St. is under investigation with the township fire department.

American Red Cross of Crawford County volunteers Karl Schwechheimer and Raina Pfhaler also assisted at the fire. They provided the family of five with temporary shelter and assistance for immediate needs such as food and clothing. Red Cross comfort kits consisting of personal hygiene items and stuff animals for the family’s children were also provided.
