A Galion couple is in need of assistance after a Sunday afternoon fire in the living room of the house they were renting.
Ron and Nancy Eckert-Makeever were not home when the fire broke out in the living room in the house at 221 West Parson St. Galion firefighters confined the blaze to the first floor, but there was extensive smoke damage throughout the two-story home in addition to the fire damage on the first floor.
The cause of the fire is unknown but it is not believed to be suspicious or intentional.
The Galion American Legion is accepting donations to aid the couple.
The incident is still under investigation.
