It is not too late to register for the fall training class for CONTACT volunteers. Classes start on Monday, September 22 at 6:30 at the Council on Aging at 200 S. Spring Street in Bucyrus. Sessions will continue on Monday and Tuesday evenings for six weeks. Please call to register.
The initial training provides 30 hours of classroom preparation with an emphasis on good listening skills and knowledge of local services. Other topics addressed include domestic violence, mental illness, drug and alcohol addiction, and suicide.
CONTACT is the confidential helpline service for Crawford County where volunteers have been available 24/7 to listen and respond to anyone who calls for over 35 years.
