Don’t miss the 3rd Annual History Walk at Fairview Cemetery on Sunday, May 4 (rain date May 18) from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

This family oriented walk will feature seven individuals who called Galion home and who helped to make Galion the city that it is today. Persons included in this year’s walk are Clara Manzer, John Kraft, Asa Hosford, Harriet Markey, Emma Lee with a cameo appearance by the founder of Lee Jeans, H.D. Lee, Oscar Whisler and Dr. Samuel Wagner.

This event is free, open to the public and no reservations are required. The guided tours will travel the half-mile walk through the cemetery with chairs available at each stop. Transportation around the grounds for those needing assistance will be available as well. Plus the mausoleum will be included in the walk. Visitors in need of handicap assistance are encouraged to be at the cemetery by 1:30 for special transportation assistance.

Local businesses, including the cemetery, will be offering information. There will be historic pieces on display as well as the Galion Historical Society hearse traveling the grounds. The girl scouts will have flowers available for planting as well as Flower Cart Florists who will have arrangements for anyone wishing to place floral remembrances at graves on May 4. Boy Scout Troop 304 will assist with the parking of cars.
