During Wednesday night’s Crawford County Senior Fair Board meeting it was reported that the motorcycle races held at the fairgrounds May 17 turned a profit.

The race generated total receipts of $25,005. After paying Steve Nace Promotions, utility bills, and straw for the race, the fair board made $5,340 on the one night racing event.

Voting on meals during the fair took an interesting turn Wednesday evening. Four votes were taken on the budget for meals provided to the fair board during the week of the fair. The first amount of $1,700 was deadlocked 8-8. The opposition was to the drop in price from last year’s $2,700. After virtual deadlocks on a second vote of $1,700 and a vote on $2,500, the fair board approved a budget of $2,000 for meals on a vote of 11-6.

Remodeling for the Junior Fair Offices were approved Wednesday night when Junior Fair Treasurer Raven Crawford supplied the Senior Fair Board with a quote of $1,325 for new shelving, windows, doors, toilet paper and paper towel holders, and paint and sealer for the walls.

Renovations are expected to begin Monday.

The pot for harness racing at the fair got a little bit sweeter after a $6,500 grant from the state for the horse racing event was given to the Crawford County Fair Board. The purse for the races will now total $16,751.10.

The fair board agreed to replace the doors to the Fine Arts Building at the fairgrounds. Cost for the doors will be $350-$400 plus labor.

The fair board announced Wednesday that donors for trophies for competitions during the fair are still needed as two sponsors have pulled out citing various differences.

The next Crawford County Senior Fair Board meeting will be held at 8 p.m. on June 25.
