The organizers of Fair Jam went before the Crawford County Fair Board on Wednesday evening to ask about returning to the Fair next summer. The Fair Board didn’t say yes, but it didn’t say no either.
Fair Board members held a lengthy discussion and tabled the issue until their October meeting.
Crawford County’s OSU Extension officer for 4-H, Allison Cooper, told the Fair Board plans are being finalized for a Cloverbud Fall Festival to be held Oct. 13 at the Pickwick Place. Cloverbud activities are for children of pre-school age through the second grade. Those interested must pre-register at the OSU Extension Office no later than Oct. 3.
Roof work on buildings on the fairgrounds will begin in October thanks to a grant that was approved. The new Merchants Building will be the first to get a new top. Work there will begin on Oct. 10, prior to winter storage at the fairgrounds which begins Oct. 15.
Winter storage of recreational vehicles and boats will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. That process will begin Oct. 15 and go through Nov. 12, or until the buildings being used for storage are full.
In other news from that meeting, the dates for the 2017 Crawford County Fair were set for July 16 through 22. Fair Board members agreed to apply for Ohio State Fair funds for the 2017 County Fair. Blaine Rowlinson also discussed the budget for the gun raffle that is scheduled for Feb. 4.
