There is one night of the Crawford County Fair every year that gives fairgoers something inspiring to enjoy. The annual Fair Jam is a Christian concert that is a product of multiple area churches and sponsors working together to bring some well-received light to the grand stands.

This year featured, first, the band Unspoken, who played in the very first Fair Jam and was brought back by popular demand.

Unspoken’s set list included such songs as “Lift My Life Up”, “Bury the Workman”, “Flow, River, Flow”, and their radio hit “Who You Are”. Following Unspoken was the Sidewalk Prophets, a group based out of Nashville that have become hits in the Christian music world. Among many wonderful songs performed were “These Simple Truths”, “It’s Good”, “You Love Me Anyway”, and, perhaps their most popular right now, “Live LikeThat”.

The crowd was large, energetic, and in tune with the words lead singer, David Frey, spoke when he invited anyone who wanted to come forward and pray with members of the Fair Jam staff.

One staff member was Kirk Ransom, who jumped at the request that he volunteer for the event.

“I just think it brings a great sense of community. People get to hear a positive message,” Ransom said. “They get to experience music together, they get to meet people they haven’t seen before. Maybe they get to be exposed to a different style of music or a different message than what we hear normally.”

Clayton Cover, a spectator at the event, said, “Fair Jam is something that I look forward to every year because it seems to really bring life to this week when everyone is working so hard. It is always positive and speaks of faith, which is the most important thing of all.”
