BUCYRUS — The Crawford County Fair will kick off July 20 and run through July 26 but with some changes this year to keep in line with state guidelines laid out during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Crawford County Fair Board’s manager and secretary, Rebecca Miller, this year’s fair will feature hand sanitizer throughout the grounds and a new handwashing station currently is being constructed.

“We are working with the governor’s office and our local health department officials to make the fair safe for all,” Miller said.

She said there will be free music concerts at the gazebo area, including performances by the Red Ball Jets, Big Red Deluxe and Steel Ivory.

“There will be a petting zoo for kids with a handwashing station,” Miller said. “We will not be having our annual senior citizens luncheon and activities due to the virus, but they are more than welcome to come and enjoy the fair.”

She said new this year is a one-time gate price that will also cover amusement rides at the fair. There will be hand-sanitizing stations throughout the area and rides will be disinfected, periodically.

“We will also be charging one price of $7 at the gate that will include the rides too. We will not be having sessions for the rides which means people will pay once at the gate and can ride all day. We will have rides that parents can go on with their children, too, including a Ferris wheel,” Miller said.

She said the grandstand will have events each day of the fair and will be free of charge except for a $5 admission fee for the annual demolition derby on July 25 and the OSTPA Tractor Pull on July 24.

“We will have Pari-Mutuel betting harness racing on Wednesday and Thursday during fair week also,” said Miller.

She said all updates for the fair will be posted on the Crawford County Fair Facebook page and the Crawford County Fair website.
