The Crawford County Fair will have a slightly different layout for 2016 as some of the concession stands will have to move from their current location.

To improve sanitary conditions the Crawford County Fair Board approved moving concession owners from the area around the livestock barns by a 13-1 vote. Those vendors will be given the option to move south between the street and the Fine Arts Building with priority to vendors with seniority at the fair.

The Fair Board also unanimously approved replacing the manure spreaders outside of the steer and calf barns with a concrete wall with wooden sides to store the manure removed from the barns during the fair..

The Junior Fair entry policy’s rules were tweaked slightly by the Fair Board Wednesday night. The Fair Board approved changing the wording of the policy’s deadline wording to “the Jr. Fair entries must be turned into the extension office on the next business day if June 20 falls on a weekend or holiday” by a vote of 13-1.

During his report to the Fair Board Tom Laughbaum noted that the Crawford County Fair’s original articles of incorporation from the 1840’s are missing from the Statehouse archives. Laughbaum told the Fair Board that he will have to speak with attorney Jim Prye and County Attorney/Prosecutor Matt Crall about the matter to determine what the cost will be to replace the articles of incorporation or to register the fair as a nonprofit charitable organization.
