The Crawford County Fairgrounds will be sprucing up a few buildings in time for the 2015 Crawford County Fair after the Senior Fair Board approved motions for building renovations at its meeting Wednesday night.
The Fair Board approved renovating the old swine arena, as well as the Young Riders Horse building for $16,500.
The old swine arena will have the siding, nailers, and spouting replaced, with a walk in door at one end and gates installed at the opposite end, and will be used to store gates, machinery, and tractors.
The Young Riders Building will have the tin siding, the soffits, four new 8’ x 12’ doors, new track and will have the walk in door eliminated.
The Fair Board also approved the Livestock Committee to chip in $3,200 for renovations to different livestock barns. Of that money, $1,000 will go towards the poultry barn, $600 will go towards the beef barn, $600 will go towards the alpaca barn, $500 will go toward the goat building, and $500 towards the sheep building.
A new construction was approved by the Fair Board as well Wednesday night as the board approved the Cattlemen’s Association proposal to build a building on a skid for refrigeration and storage during the week of the county fair. The Fair Board also approved renting the other portion of the lot for $200. The Fair Board noted that the Cattlemen’s Association will have to check with the County Commissioners on who will cover the insurance for the building.
A permanent memorial bench was approved to be erected by the Ziggler family on the southeast corner of the show arena.
The next Crawford County Senior Fair Board meeting will take place at 8 pm on Wednesday, May 27.
