This week’s Sip, Shop, and Stroll offered those who ventured to downtown Bucyrus the chance to exercise and check out bargains.
Outside of Family Video, a group of excited participants gathered for a free Zumba exercise class taught by Barb Koehler, Diana Shroll, and Faith Achterman, three local women who took a Zumba class years ago and liked it so much that they got certified to teach it themselves.
Now, every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., the dancing group meets in the ballroom above the American Legion in Bucyrus to exercise and have fun together, no matter one’s age or ability. Achterman, who offers the first class free, with each subsequent class costing only $3, was asked to participate in fitness night for Sip, Shop, and Stroll, and she and her companions were more than happy to oblige.
Zumba wasn’t the only representative, however, as the parking lot was being shared with Fitness Warehouse, a 24-hour gym based in Galion that boasts a multitude of features for an ever-growing membership.
Adam Hartz, a representative for the gym, said that the sale was going all right, but that the road being closed while the old theater was being torn down, made it a little harder to access the event. Regardless of the delay, which did open up before the evening was through, Hartz stated that it had been a fun time and that the atmosphere was great.
“The sidewalk sale, if it was advertised right and people came out here they would have a fun time,” Hartz said, “I think it would be a great thing for the community.”
UB Dazzled employee Ashton Boyd said that each week, they see more and more people out and about to enjoy the opportunity, and summed the intention up nicely in saying, “I just think it promotes everyone to get out in the community and shop locally.”
