CRAWFORD COUNTY – The Crawford Park District invites nature enthusiasts of all ages to participate in two exciting events scheduled for the upcoming week, offering unique opportunities to connect with the local environment and its wildlife.

Seed Collection Event

Date: Saturday, October 7

Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Location: Unger Park, 1303 Bucyrus-Nevada Rd

The Crawford Park District encourages community members to join them at Unger Park, situated at 1303 Bucyrus-Nevada Rd. This event presents a chance for participants to get their hands dirty and contribute to the preservation and growth of our local prairies.

The main task at hand is seed collection, a vital component in assisting the Crawford Park District in creating new prairies or bolstering plant populations in established ones. Land Manager Mike will be on hand to provide guidance in plant and seed identification, making it an educational experience for all. The necessary collection equipment will be provided, but attendees are advised to wear long pants for added comfort.

As a token of appreciation, participants will also have the opportunity to take some of the collected seeds home, enabling them to establish their own native prairie garden.

Unger Park is conveniently located just west of Bucyrus on Bucyrus-Nevada Road, making it easily accessible for local residents eager to engage in this worthwhile endeavor.
