NEWS RELEASE:
The Bucyrus Middle School Art Club, in partnership with the Bucyrus Lions Club, sponsored the annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest at the Bucyrus Middle School. Members of the Art Club participated in the contest that featured the theme of embodying the idea of world peace.
Members of the Bucyrus Lions Club juried the contest that concluded with seventh grade student Emily Adams being selected as the 2017 winner.
“Students produced some very creative, colorful and engaging peace themed posters,” said Scott Mental, Middle School art teacher. “This is a unique opportunity for our students to team up with a great local organization like the Lions Club to encompass ideas that move beyond Bucyrus and Crawford County”
As the local winner, Adams’ poster will move on to the district competition, where it will be judged against 26 other posters from Lions Club districts around the state.
“This contest was possible thanks to the support of Bucyrus Lions Club President Mr. Terry Spiegel, Bucyrus Secondary School Principal Dr. Mark Burke, the families of our Art Club members and the students themselves,” said Mental. “I’m excited to see how Emily’s poster is judged at the next level of this international competition.”
