BUCYRUS — Voters in Crawford County will see voting equipment when they hit the polls Nov. 5.

The Crawford County Board of Elections has obtained new touchscreen voting stations for county voters to use beginning this general election.

All voting precincts will have the equipment.

Voters will follow three steps to complete their vote.

After checking in at the table in their precinct, voters will be given a ballot card which will be inserted into the polling machine.

The voter then will complete his or her ballot on the touch screen.

After printing the completed ballot card, the voter will insert the card into a scanner located at each polling location.

It is essential voters do not leave with a ballot without putting it into the scanner.

Unlike previous years, where ballots had to be uploaded from each individual polling machine, the scanners collecting the ballots will total all votes from that polling location together as the ballots are inserted, allowing elections workers to tally each voting precinct more quickly.

The touchscreens provide written step-by-step instructions for voters to follow and polling place workers will be available to help as well.

The new machines currently are being used in the Crawford County Board of Elections Office in the Crawford County Courthouse for those who choose to vote early.

Election Day is Nov. 5 and polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
