Bucyrus Police Chief Dave Koepke had a hard time finding the words for what occurred at Walmart Tuesday morning.
“It was very . . . ,” Koepke paused as he struggled to come up with the right word, “bold in the middle of the day in the parking lot.
A20-year-old man, identified as Kory St. Clair, is alleged to have followed an 82-year-old female from the Bucyrus Walmart store into the parking lot Tuesday at 11:10 a.m. where he then stole her purse. The victim was knocked to the ground in the process, suffering an injury. She was treated and released.
“It’s just a terrible attack on an elderly,” Koepke said.
The purse was found on the roadway at Teddy Avenue nearly 30 minutes later.
St. Clair is being held for investigation in the purse snatching robbery. Municipal Court Judge Sean Leuthold set bond at $1 million. If convicted, St. Clair could be sentenced to a 10-year prison sentence.
The male is being held for investigation in the purse snatching robbery.
It seemed to be a case of déjà vu when Bucyrus police had to haul out another suspect that had been hiding underneath a pile of clothes.
Similar to a case that occurred in April, officers discovered a man hiding underneath a pile of clothes in a South Spring Street residence Tuesday evening when the officer nearly stepped on him. Another suspect had been hiding in a clothes dryer.
Twenty-seven-year-old Dustin Hunt and 24-year-old Stanley Hunt were arrested on warrants out of Crawford County. Both men were transported to the Crawford County Justice Center to be held for court.
Another man is in prison due to a helpful tip from an alert neighbor. That neighbor noticed a man prowling around a residence and a fenced yard the 400 block of East Rensselaer St. around 3 a.m. Wednesday.
Officers responded to the call, interrupting the burglary and locating the suspect under the porch. Fifty-year-old Thomas L. McKinney had allegedly been cutting copper pipes when he was apprehended.
McKinney was charged with burglary, possession of criminal tools, and criminal trespass. He was transported to the Crawford County Justice Center to await a court appearance.
