NEW WASHINGTON — Emergency crews responded to a report of a drowning east of New Washington on Thursday evening.
Deputies with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office led the response with support from the New Washington Police Department and Portsmouth Emergency Ambulance Services.
According to a report from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, crews responded to the 6000 block of Marsh Road to a farm pond for an elderly man reported to have drowned.
The victim’s son found the man in the water and pulled him from the pond.
CPR was performed until medical personnel arrived on the scene.
The victim was identified as 92-year-old Gilbert Heydinger of New Washington.
The Crawford County Coroner’s office released the victim’s body to a local funeral home.
The deputy’s report said no indications of foul play were found at the scene.
