CRAWFORD COUNTY—Crawford County, Ohio, experienced the effects of a confirmed tornado as a cluster of showers and thunderstorms moved through the region in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, the tornado was rated as an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, with maximum wind gusts reaching 105 miles per hour. Its path covered approximately 6.24 miles and had a width of 100 yards.
The tornado caused significant damage to the area, snapping and uprooting multiple trees and resulting in damage to several homes. Fortunately, there were no reported fatalities or injuries.
The tornado touched down near Parcher Road and Route 30, where it severely damaged a barn before moving east-southeast, causing further destruction to trees and homes. Twelve homes sustained moderate damage, and one was completely destroyed near Lake Galion.
The tornado finally lifted near the intersection of County Road 35 and Route 598, where three silos also sustained damage.
The storm’s timeline indicates that it began at 04:58 AM EDT on July 29, 2023, near 2 W North Robinson in Crawford County, and ended at 05:03 AM EDT near 2 W Crestline.
The tornado was part of a larger complex of thunderstorms that swept across Ohio during the late hours of July 28 and into the morning of July 29. As the storms reached Crawford County, they had already weakened compared to their impact on other regions.
