With Tuesday’s election quickly approaching, many voters are opting to vote early at the Crawford County Board of Elections.
According to director Ruth Leuthold, 1,800 people voted early in 2015 and so far, 1,492 have cast early ballots for this election.
“Odd years are the local elections such as townships, cities and school boards. Even years include state and federal races,” Leuthold said.
Early voting numbers include paper ballots that are cast as absentee by people who cannot vote in person and people who are coming into the board of elections’ office to vote.
“We mailed out 971 paper ballots and so far, we have received 619 back,” Leuthold said.
There is still time to vote early and the board of elections is offering extended hours to accommodate most schedules:
Nov. 1 to Nov. 3: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 4: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 5: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday, Nov. 6: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Crawford County Board of Elections is located in the lower level of the Crawford County Courthouse at 112 E. Mansfield St., in Bucyrus.
The deadline for absentee ballots to be mailed out is at noon on Saturday.
