LEESVILLE—On Sunday at 7:55 PM, the Crawford County Sherriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a crash in the 2500 block of SR 598 in Jefferson Twp. Crawford County.

When deputies arrived, they found that a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta had been traveling southbound on SR 598 when it ran off the side of the road and hit a road sign and then a tree. After hitting the tree, the vehicle came to rest in the roadway with the car ripped in half.

The driver, later identified as Lonnie Chaney, 43, had fled the scene on foot. He was later found in the Village of Leesville with minor injuries.

Chaney was then taken to the Crawford County Jail for a Warrant on Indictment out of Crawford County for felony Possession of Drugs.

Jefferson Township Vol. Fire Dept. and Portsmouth Ambulance responded to the scene. Officers from the Crestline Police Department and Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol also responded and assisted in searching for Mr. Chaney.

The crash is still under investigation.
