Press release and staff report

The Crawford County Dog Warden would like to remind all dog owners in Crawford County that there are over 1,500 dogs in the county without dog licenses.

As of Nov. 20, 2016, there were: 7,892 individual dog licenses, 231 three-year licenses, 19 lifetime licenses, and 42 kennel licenses sold.

As of May 12, 2017, there are: 7,520 individual licenses, 172 three-year licenses, 27 lifetime licenses, and 20 kennel licenses sold.

The Dog Warden and the Deputy Dog Warden will be walking areas of the county and knocking doors to check dog tags. As Ohio Revised Code 955.01 states that all dogs over the age of three months shall be registered and licensed within their county, any dog found without a valid 2017 license, the owner can be cited up to a $175 minor misdemeanor and the Revised Code states “the Dog Warden shall seize upon city any dog not licensed within the county.”

Please purchase your license today. Contact the Crawford County Auditor or the Humane Society Serving Crawford County to obtain your dog’s license.
