BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A woman from Toledo has launched a public appeal to find a long-lost half-sister she only recently learned existed, uncovering a family secret with deep ties to Bucyrus and Oceola.

Donna Buckner Teet

The woman, Donna Buckner Teet who is now 58, was informed by her uncle that her late father, James C. “Clayton” Buckner, had another daughter.

According to the family, the half-sister was conceived in Bucyrus sometime between 1967 and 1975.

The search is centered on property once owned by the Buckner family on  Sheckler St. in Bucyrus.

The family, which also includes three other sisters and one brother, lived there until the Donna  was about six or seven years old before moving to Toledo.

The half-sister’s mother reportedly lived in a mobile home on the Sheckler Street property. She has since passed away from complications related to gastric bypass surgery.

“I know it’s a long shot,” Teet said, “but after a lifetime of not knowing, I have to try. I just want to find her and welcome her into our family.”

The family describes the half-sister as bearing a resemblance to the , who has blonde hair and blue eyes, though she would be younger.

The secret was kept by Clayton Buckner until his recent passing, at which point his brother felt he was free to reveal the information.

Anyone with information about a woman born in or around Bucyrus or Oceola between 1967 and 1975 whose mother lived in a mobile home on Sheckler Street and later passed away from complications of gastric bypass surgery is asked to come forward by calling Teet at 419-276-8686.

It’s a search driven by hope, aiming to connect a new branch to a family tree that just grew a little bigger.
