The man who initiated the lawsuit to nullify Galion’s return to a mayoral form of government is now running for that office.
David Dayne has already been approved to have his name on the ballot in November and announced his candidacy for Galion mayor in a letter to Crawford County Now.
Dayne is a former Galion police officer who has served the city in various capacities. Dayne also ran for Crawford County commissioner but was defeated in the Republican primary by Steve Reinhard.
Dayne will be running against incumbent Tom O’Leary who was elected to the post for the short term this past May.
The lawsuit Dayne and others filed challenging the nullification of Galion’s charter has not yet been decided by visiting Judge David Faulkner and is due for a bench trial.
