CRESTLINE, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—For the past eight years, Cross Carpet has been quietly serving the Crestline community, helping homeowners update their spaces with new flooring and personalized service.

Located in downtown Crestline, the store is owned and operated by a flooring professional who has installed flooring for over 35 years, including the last 20 years in Crestline.

“I was the installer for the previous owner for over 20 years,” he said. “Eventually, I convinced him to retire so I could get off my knees and start selling flooring instead of installing it every day.”

Since taking over the business in 2018, Cross Carpet has continued to offer a wide range of flooring options while keeping service local and accessible.

The store carries several types of flooring, including hardwood, laminate, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), sheet vinyl, and carpet. Installation services are also available, although some customers choose to purchase materials and install the flooring themselves.

One of the most popular flooring choices today is luxury vinyl plank, known for its durability and waterproof features. It has become a practical option for homes with children and pets while still offering an updated look.

As a smaller, locally owned business, Cross Carpet is able to keep pricing competitive. Operating as a one-man shop helps keep overhead low, which can translate into better pricing for customers.

Over the years, the owner has worked on many different projects. One of the most memorable was installing the basketball floor at Crestline Catholic School.

Being part of the Crestline community remains an important part of the business. He takes pride in keeping both services and dollars local while also being available when customers need assistance.

Community support plays an important role in keeping small businesses running. Cross Carpet regularly gives back by supporting local schools as well as veterans organizations.

“Without the community supporting me, I wouldn’t be here supporting the community,” he said.

Like many small businesses, recent years have brought economic uncertainty. Despite those challenges, the focus remains on continuing to serve customers and keeping the doors open.

At its core, Cross Carpet remains focused on providing quality flooring, local service, and helping customers create homes they’re proud of.
