Crews were dispatched shortly before 9 a.m. Monday morning to a report of a large truck pulling down utility lines.

Upon arrival, officers with the Bucyrus Police Department discovered the lines were not electrical and were optic lines most likely service local cable providers.

The Sims Brothers Recycling truck, operated by Triad Transport of Marion, pulled the cable down on Hopley Avenue from South East Street to Faustina Avenue.

According to BPD Capt. Neil Assenheimer, no citations were given due to the truck pulling a standard-size trailer. He added there was no way to know if the line was hanging lower than it was supposed to be.

Traffic was reduced to one lane during the incident and both lanes were reopened after the scene was cleared shortly before 9:30 a.m.

The Bucyrus Fire Department removed the cable from the roadway until it could be repaired.

Life Support Team EMS also responded to the scene.
