The Village of Crestline hired retired Crawford County Auditor Robin Hildebrand as a consultant and one of Hildebrand’s first tasks was to assess the financial management systems used by village officials.
Those findings resulted in four recommendations: hire a fiscal officer, request the auditor of state to issue a definitive ruling as to whether the village is in fiscal emergency; correct and update the village chart of accounts, and develop a policy manual for the fiscal department.
Hildebrand called the decision by village officials to have the financial assessment done, “a bold step.”
